What HAPPENED?
The Nazis had conducted scientific experiments on humans in the holocaust or prisoners of war. These test subjects were did not willingly consent to being tested. The head the Schutzstaffel, Heinrich Himmler was in charge of these experiments, Some of the Nazi experiments included sterilization, genetic experiments on twins, hypothermia, disease, and other biological experiments. The twin experiments were used to see if the human body could be unnaturally manipulated. In many cases, the Nazis would cut both twins in half and sew them onto each other. Other human rights violations were forcing many people to become sterile or not able to reproduce. The Nazis would deem who had superior genetics and would only let the superior genes to be passed on. But some of the other experiments the Nazis conducted were taking test subjects and putting them in freezing water to test hypothermia cures. They would put freezing water in large tanks with a naked test subject. In some cases, a test subject would have to be in 21°F water for as long as several hours. Other experiments were making malaria cures and other immunization experiments, Over 1,000 people died from these tests. But one of the cruelest things the Nazis did was mustard gas and other biological testing on human subjects. The subjects were exposed to mustard gas and other chemicals of warfare. Then the Nazis would try to find the most effective treatment to the chemical's effects.
